GUNAXE is a setting-independent ruleset for tabletop miniature battles, designed to minimise rules to keep the game simple to teach, easy to play, balanced and fun. It can be played with 2 or more players.

I created these rules for my small group after other systems we tried seemed too fiddly, unintuitive or had time-consuming prep. I wanted to focus on quick turns, simple gameplay and fun. I also wanted a way to use my vast collection of old miniatures from the 80s.

Because you use your own figures, the setting is entirely up to you. Fantasy or Science-Fiction? Gun or Axe?
Or a mix of both? It's your choice.

GUNAXE uses random figure activation, one action per turn to keep the game moving and D10 rolls. The basic rules are supplemented by optional extra game modes and figure rules.

Here are some of the features:

  • Each figure has a random ability card to give them the edge
  • Non-combat 'fodder' figures are used to annoy your opponents with a penalty for killing them
  • Different moods can increase or decrease attack and defence
  • Random pickups scattered across the battlefield - grenade or trap?
  • Optional Capture-the-Flag and Terminal-Hack modes of play
  • Optional rules for squads and more

The rules are always open to tweaks and additions - join the facebook group for updates and to provide feedback: GUNAXE - Tabletop Miniature Battles | Facebook
