A downloadable game

Scuba Dive is an all-time classic in the vast library of ZX Spectrum games.
An early title, originally released in 1983, it has stood the test of time and remains one of the most unique and compelling games of the era.

Scuba Dive sets the player as a diver who has to navigate a labyrinth of underwater caves to obtain pearls and treasure from the clams and chests that lie on the sea floor.

This remake contains the original game mode with multiple skill levels, as well as an all-new 'Free Dive' mode where you explore a brand new map, trying to unlock a series of underwater discoveries. There is no death is this mode, so it's great for those who just like to relax and explore.

The original Scuba Dive is copyright Mike Richardson / Durell Software.

This remake is fan made and free of charge. Programming by Steve Watson (Space-Time Games). Graphics and in-game music by Paul Weller (Sunteam).

Nice conversion with chilled music. Unfortunately it lacks a bit of variety and the controls are quite difficult and cannot be changed. Our German-language preview can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 02:48:17. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

Wow, this used to be one of my favorites. A couple of questions, tho.

1. How many pearls are there in each clam? AFAIK, in original game, once you pick a pearl, clam closed forever, and that forced you to explore. I have tried to pick pearls on the first level, but they just keep opening again and again.

2. With a new life, i was expelled from the boat down just at the moment the shark was there. Not sure, if i held Space key, but i thought they just threw me in water into shark's jaws.

3. Hi score name dialog... needs fancy GUI styling.

4. Speed of the game... Not sure if it was meant this way or is it speed scaling on my particular 36 core rig, but the original ran at somewhat slower pace. My scuba diver moves hillariously fast, so does the boat above.

Otherwise, this is very nice and long-awaited remake, congrats!

This is fantastic. The original was an amazing work of art and ahead of it's time. Lovely to revisit it in technicolor!

I have been hoping for a modern remake of this game for a very long time. This did not disappoint. Great work!

Many thanks for this, here is my tribute...

Simply super! Really good job, well done!

Brilliant! Now, if you were to do a Speccy Next version of this, many of us would pay good money for that! 😊

brilliant!  Hope to see a speccy next version with similar superb colours in the near future!

I did use the Next palette for most of the art, with some extra blending here and there. But I'd need a proper Next skilled programmer to make it happen.

Given what I;ve seen recently I reckon you could easily pull this off in Next Basic!  Worth a p[ost on the fb group for sure!

Really nice!

The player never appeared, I pressed escape and now the game won't respond to keyboard input anymore

How strange. What operating system? Did you select keyboard or controller? Does it happen again if you quit out and restart
